This General Conference was our 10th FOCUS Conference! The Conference was held again in Chianciano Terme, Siena, October 5 – 9.
This year’s theme “Sola Gratia” and “Sola Fide” continued the Reformation motto, which started in 2007, with the “Sola Scriptura” (Scripture Alone) Conference.
The speakers John MacArthur, Steven Lawson, Tom Pennington and William Standridge were a great encouragement and a source of reflection for all.
Over 300 people were present! There were participants from each of the twenty regions of Italy, and many churches participated in larger groups.
We were also blessed by the great number of young people participating. We had one evening dedicated to praying for all those present. The representatives from each region were asked to stand, and two people from the congregation prayed for them. It was a great time of fellowship and communion among all.
Dr. John MacArthur spoke on what it means to be saved by faith alone and grace alone, with special attention on how this works out in life by becoming a slave of Christ.
Pastor William Standridge spoke on 1 John chapter 1, and opened the sessions every morning by bringing the attention to the importance of confessing sin, the reality of true forgiveness and the necessity of communion between believers.
Dr. Steve Lawson spoke on Galatians chapter 2, and explained in clear terms that a Gospel that moves away from Sola Fide (Faith Alone) and Sola Gratia (Grace Alone) is not another gospel, but no gospel at all.
Pastor Tom Pennington spoke on Ephesians chapter 2 and gave a clear explanation of the reality of grace as it reaches down to men unable to do anything to invite the loving call of God.
